Multiple Intestinal Perforation In Crohn's Disease
Abstract
Intestinal perforation is a rare progressive complication of Crohn's disease. Only 25% of cases represent the first manifestation of this disease, and its management is medical-surgical. We report a case of multiple intestinal perforation indicative of Crohn's disease in a 16-year-old patient at Brazzaville University Hospital. She had a history of recurrent abdominal pain treated symptomatically since the age of 5 years. Intraoperative exploration revealed 6 ileal perforations, 3 perforations of the coecum, 2 perforations of the right colic angle and mesenteric adenopathy’s. Biopsies of perforation and lymphadenopathies, perforation sutures and an ileostomy were performed. The pathological analysis of the operative specimens concluded that there was Crohn's disease. Treatment with Mezalazine has achieved clinical improvement without recurrence for 2 years.
