Abstract

Basketball is a sport needed repetitive changing direction with high kinetic force that influences injury.  The Purpose of the study is to find out the patterns of sports injury among injured young male basketball trainees. A cross-sectional study is conducted among 54 participants in Bangladesh basketball federation at Dhaka city. Data was collected by a structure administered questionnaire with a face to face interview. Data was analyzed by SPSS (version 20). Results indicated that hand/finger, & Knee was the most common prevalent site of sports injury. Most of the injuries caused by general trauma where landing was the commonest mechanism of injury. In addition, most strain injuries occurred in indoor ground and sprain injuries occurred in outdoor ground. However, there was no significant relation found between types of injury with playing ground and supporting device (p>0.05). Knowledge about injury and warm-up properly before playing might help to prevent and reduce the injury.
